The Summit of Lahu

Step into the living history of the Lahu tribe, where a once-forbidden opium trail now winds through vibrant rice terraces, cornfields, and hill-grown crops—symbols of resilience, cultural pride, and a way of life rooted deep in the mountains of Northern Thailand. As you follow this path, you will ascend to a breathtaking viewpoint at 1,650 meters, offering panoramic vistas that reveal the stunning layers of the surrounding mountain landscape.

Day 1: Waterfall Swim, Lahu Village, and Sunset in the Rice Fields

Start your trek along the scenic Mae Tang River, reaching a hidden waterfall in about 40 minutes—perfect for a refreshing swim. Continue to a peaceful Lahu village for a traditional hill tribe lunch and cultural insights.

After a short break, follow the historic opium route, now lined with rice, corn, and bean fields. By late afternoon, arrive at your bamboo homestay nestled in the rice terraces, just in time for sunset.

In the evening, explore the village or join an optional Lahu cooking class to help prepare your dinner. Then relax by the campfire under a star-filled sky.

Day 2: Rainforest Hike, Hilltop Summit & Endless Mountain Views

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of nature—birds singing, roosters crowing, and mist rolling over the rice fields. After a light breakfast, begin your ascent through lush rainforest and peaceful pine forest, surrounded by thriving hill tribe plantations of rice, corn, and beans.

The trail gradually climbs to a stunning summit at 1,650 meters above sea level. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping panoramic views of northern Thailand’s layered mountains—an unforgettable moment of peace and achievement.
